The forest’s conservation history dates back to the early 20th century when the British Colonial Government established a forest reserve to curb deforestation and ensure a sustainable timber supply. Despite these efforts, the NPFF has lost significant forest land over the past 50 years due to agricultural expansion, logging, and mining. Today, while still relatively intact, the forest faces ongoing threats from deforestation, climate change, and invasive species.
